Interior design is all about personal taste and preference. But beyond that, it is also about celebrating the styles of other regions and cultures. To pay tribute to designs from around the world, we will decode three further styles as a part of our series — Brazilian, Dutch, and Egyptian! Keep reading to learn all about them, and perhaps find inspiration for your next design project.
Brazilian Interior Design
Brazilian interior design is featured by simple aesthetics and a low profile. It draws inspiration from the 1950’s, whilst many of its elements remain relevant today as well.
In this design style, you can find plenty of raw forms and shapes along with expressed structures. The furniture items have a relatively vintage appearance and sit low with the floor. In turn, the ceilings appear tall, making the room look spacious.

The colour palette of the Brazilian design style is largely subdued, with neutrals taking the prize. Furniture pieces are often used to create pops of colour, and sometimes, an accent wall can be seen too.

Indigenous Brazilian materials and sleek, curvy shapes define this interior design style. The pieces incorporated are functional and elegant, cutting out on extra ornamentation and detailing.
Brazilian interior design is big on natural light. As such, you can find large windows with little to no window treatments, allowing sunlight to illuminate the space during the day. For dark hours, these interiors rely on statement lighting fixtures, such as stunning chandeliers and massive table lamps.

Dutch Interior Design
Dutch interior design aims to strike a balance between functionality and style. It focuses on flow and logical routing, so moving between rooms is easy and natural.
The colour palette of Dutch interior design is bright and breezy. You can always find a blend of earthy tones and neutral hues, too. These create a sense of calm and keep the colour scheme balanced. Additionally, there are plenty of bold patterns to create visual interest, and are often incorporated through the wallpaper or rug.

Similar to the Scandinavian design style, Dutch interiors are closely related to nature. As such, there is an abundance of plants and natural light. You can also find plenty of unique shapes, including soft and organic forms.

The truly Dutch home also has a space for gathering with loved ones. A natural option is a designated dining table to enjoy meals with family and friends, whilst smaller homes usually create a welcoming space for gathering in the living area or kitchen.

Egyptian Interior Design
Ancient Egyptian design has always focused on grandiose designs, showcasing wealth and rich taste. Similarly, Egyptian interior design today has a touch of luxury and high-end design elements.
The colour palette for the design style draws inspiration from the sand dunes of Egypt. As a result, it is largely neutral, with a focus on sandy yellow, warm beige, and cream. Pops of blue and red — or gold accents — can be seen, replicating the glistening jewels of the country’s rich leaders.
Egyptian interior design amalgamates many different materials for the ultimate luxury effect. For example, a blend of marble, wood, metal, and glass. You can also find high-gloss finishes abundantly.

This interior design style incorporates plenty of patterns. These can be geometric shapes added through the bedding or more organic ones included through furniture items, such as headboards.

Egyptian interiors feature high-end elements: elaborate designing, plush furnishings, and a variety of light sources. Stunning artwork and traditional carvings may also be found in this design style.
